I really wanted to love this cheese ball mix. It did taste AMAZING but it didn't turn out how I expected.
The first problem I had with it is the lack of instructions that came with it. It told you how much cream cheese you needed and how to mix it and put it in the fridge, but it didn't come with tips (like how to make it look like the picture.) The picture showed a cheese ball with some sort of crumble or crust around it, and the instructions didn't say anything about a crumble or crust. Also, the picture showed the inside of the cheese ball (actual cheese mix) as a caramel brown color. But with the instructions given and followed, it came out white just like cream cheese looks. Its not a deal breaker and its not why I gave it 3 stars.
I gave this 3 stars because the mix I made absolutely would NOT form into a ball. It came out more as a creamy thick dip rather than a formable ball. (And yes I put it in the fridge to harden up.) I used the regular Philadelphia Cream Cheese that comes in the wrapped bar shape (not in the tub) which you would think would work fine because it stays formed in the bar shape no matter how long its out of the fridge... Also, the instructions and anything that came with the mix did not come with recommendations for what cream cheese to use.
After I realized it wasn't thickening up I left it in the fridge over night. It was almost like the mix turned the cheese thin. So, I added some flour to it which I realized might affect the flavor badly, but I really wanted this thing to be a ball! It just didn't work. I ended up leaving it in the bowl as a dip for graham crackers.
All of that being said it tasted AMAZING I loved it, my family loved it, but I'm glad I wasn't depending on this thing for a party or get together. I think I'll try to find my own cheese ball recipe like this cause it wasn't worth the trouble and the up charge of not being store owner. Maybe I just totally wrecked this somehow but I totally did everything the package said and this is my result.
