On The Go Kids Treats!

Posted by

From soccer to dance lessons to choir to sleepovers and everything in between, kids are always on the go. As parents, we are constantly looking for a quick snack to pack in their lunchboxes or to toss in the car for the drive to practice. You just can’t go wrong with these quick and yummy recipes to keep in mind when you’re in a time crunch.

Peanut Butter Up

Ants on a log are an oldie but goodie, and kids can easily make this tasty snack themselves. Just send them off with some celery chopped in two-inch pieces, a couple tablespoons of peanut butter a baggie with raisins and a plastic knife. Not only is this a classic favorite, but it’s also a healthy option for kids of all ages.

A banana peanut butter wrap is also great option either for breakfast on the go or a filling snack. Just spread peanut butter on a whole wheat tortilla and sprinkle on some granola. Wrap the peanut butter-covered tortilla around a whole banana. Cut it in half, and you have two wraps ready to go. The great thing about this recipe is that it’s flexible--if your child doesn’t like granola, try chopped nuts or add some honey for a sweet flavor. It’s also great with strawberries!

A Sweet Treat

Kids tend to enjoy a sweet treat every once in a while and, let’s admit it--so do you. S’mores on the go is tasty and so easy to make! All you need is a box of Golden Grahams, a bag of chocolate chips and marshmallows. Just throw all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix together. It’s easy to make a tub full of this snack with ingredients you already have right in your pantry. Not a fan of s’mores? Whip up a batch of cookies with one our mixes. They are quick and easy, and the kids can help!

Of course, these snacks aren’t just for the kiddos. Make enough for the whole family to munch on while rushing to work or heading to the park on a nice weekend.
