Sauerkraut and Pork Slow Cooker Soup Recipe


2 lbs. Sauerkraut, juice set aside

1 small head of cabbage chopped fine

6 T. Bacon fat

2 onions chopped

4 ribs celery chopped

8 carrots sliced

1 T. Minced garlic

 2 lbs pork ribs deboned

2 lbs. Kielbasa cut up

2 T. Tomato paste

4 quarts beef stock

2 tsp. Paprika

2 bay leaf

2 t. Sugar

2 T. Flour

2 T. Each of parsley and dill

1 T. Caraway seeds

salt and pepper to taste

sour cream for topping


Brown pork ribs and kielbasa in bacon fat, remove meat add onion, celery, garlic and carrots, brown. Add all ingredients into crock pot except sauerkraut juice, flour and sour cream put on high 4 hours then on low for 39 min. more. Combine the flour in the sauerkraut juice stir into crockpot until it thickens slightly. Top with sour cream or cheddar cheese if desired.
